President Signs Fostering Connections to Success and Increasing Adoption Act NCHCW supports meaningful child welfare reform legislation aimed at keeping families together and safe, improving programs and policies that impact children in foster care and youth aging out, and improving opportunities for permanency for children who cannot be safely reunited with their biological families. The Fostering Connections to Success Act and Increasing Adoption Act (H.R. 6307) takes several important steps towards these goals inlcuding the followidoes not meet all of these goals, it is a small step in the right direction. Key provisions in the bill include improved supports for youth aging out of foster care at age 18, new incentives for family members to care for children instead of having them placed in foster care, language that would help ensure that siblings are kept together if placed in care, and requirements that would help preserve school stability for children in care.
